Kenya Meteorological Department warns of heavy rainfall in parts of Nairobi over the next 18 hours, with potential flooding in some areas.
According to the 24-hour rainfall forecast covering 9 AM today to 9 AM tomorrow (March 11, 2025), the heaviest downpours (80-100mm) are expected in Embakasi East, increasing the risk of flooding and drainage challenges.
Moderate rainfall (20-50mm) is also projected in Dagoretti, Westlands, Roysambu, Kamukunji, and Embakasi North.
Lighter rainfall (below 20mm) is expected in Kasarani and Ruaraka, though poor drainage could still result in localized flooding.
The heavy rains are likely to disrupt traffic and worsen drainage problems in affected areas.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone zones are urged to take precautionary measures.
